Rehabilitating Communities on the U.S.-Mexico Border, One Baseball Game at a Time

Rehabilitating Communities on the U.S.-Mexico Border, One Baseball Game at a Time - Jordan Foster Construction August 15, 2017

Together, Jordan Foster Construction, El Paso Border Youth and Major League Baseball are reaching out to the disenfranchised colonia communities of El Paso County through the universal language of baseball.

For the third year running, Jordan Foster sponsored BASE Play Night at the Ballpark with the El Paso Chihuahuas.  BASE Play RBI is an afterschool program in the Title 1 schools of El Paso County.  The program connects 4th, 5th and 6th grade students to their own potential through baseball and softball play.

Volunteers and staff work with students to improve grades and teach academic accountability for 24 weeks each school year, and it’s working:  82% of the participating students who were failing one or more classes at the start of the program transitioned to passing grades in the 2016-2017 academic year.
