MoPac Improvement Project

Austin, Texas

Client: CH2M Hill

Description:
The Mopac Improvements Project was a public design-build project owned by the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority and contracted with CH2M Hill to serve as the General Contractor and principle engineer. The project adds express lanes (variable toll lanes) on the interior of the Mopac expressway between Parmer Lane and Caesar Chavez with access points at Parmer Lane, 2222, and the Caesar Chavez/5th Street exit downtown. At the southern terminus of these express lanes, the Caesar Chavez/5th Street Exit, Jordan Foster Construction was subcontracted by CH2M Hill to construct the undercrossings, which are large concrete structures acting as tunnels underneath the main lanes of traffic providing access to and from the express lanes. During the course of this project, multiple change orders were issued to allow Jordan Foster Construction to help CH2M Hill complete other areas of work on a time and material basis.
