This project consist of two fully-sprinklered single story main buildings. The AFRC Building is 67,000 gross square feet and has separate spaces for administration, training, classrooms, assembly, woven wire mesh equipment storage compartments with galvanized metal shelving, and concrete vaults for weapons storage for the Texas Army National Guard, the United States Army Reserve and the United States Marine Corp Reserve units. The facility includes a full-service kitchen.
The Field Maintenance Shop is 22,000 gross square feet and has separate spaces for vehicle maintenance, parts storage, and administration. The eight service bays have a bridge crane and 15 ton electric hoists, vehicle exhaust system, and lube oil dispensing and recycling systems. The construction of both buildings include structural slab supported on belled piers, terrazzo flooring, load bearing masonry interior and exterior walls, alucobond exterior composite accent panels, blast resistant windows, standing seam metal roofs. The roof is supported by a combination of structural steel trusses and light gauge metal frame trusses. The roof drainage has been designed for future water harvesting system to augment a gray water supply to a lawn irrigation system.
Ancillary structures include a 7,000 gross square feet structural masonry building for storage, and 18KW photovoltaic system mounted on canopy of each building, a concrete loading ramp for military vehicles and a covered vehicle wash platform. The projects site includes a concrete roadway that bisects the site with the AFRC Building with concrete POV parking on the north and the FMS Building with concrete military vehicle parking on the south. The project has been designed for the military Anti-Terrorism Force Protection requirements and for USGBC LEED certification level of Silver with enhanced commissioning of MEP systems.
