The facility is located in the secure WSMR compound for training and testing of air defense systems by American, German, and Italian personnel. The project consists of three buildings, two existing 1957 era buildings (36,118 square feet) to be renovated and one new modular type office building (4,320 square feet), in a fenced in secure area, and a separate concrete paved secure parking lot (46,208 square feet).
Renovation of the existing buildings consists of demolition, new painted gyp-board partitions, heavy sound-rated insulation in walls and ceilings, acoustical ceilings, carpet, VC tile, and sealed floors, sound-rated wood and metal doors, security-type cipher locks, sealing of all existing exterior wall penetrations, plumbing, HVAC and electrical upgrading for office use, and security upgrades to the interior and exterior of all areas.
Modular office furniture and kitchen appliances were installed to accommodate the NATO staff and personnel. Data and electrical raceways were installed for Owner-Installed cabling and appurtenances. The pre-fabricated modular building is a finished office area with finishes, modular furniture and kitchen appliance ssimilar to the renovated buildings. Both buildings have large secure conference rooms for staff and personnel meetings. The site work consisted of concrete paving and patching, new underground and overhead utilities routed to the buildings and parking lot, security enhanced chain-link fencing around the perimeter of the buildings and remote parking lot, exterior lighting and rough-in for cameras, storm drainage upgrades, and general sitework.
Additional scope was added to our contract by change order for Up-Range improvements north of the WSMR compound. This work consists of upgrading existing missile equipment and launch test sites and developing new equipment and launch test sites in conjunction with ongoing activities at the main MEADS facility on post. This work includes sitework, electrical, and concrete. Our work is coordinated and scheduled taking into account other daily WSMR testing and ongoing activities at the North Range area.
